Iron Maiden have just released their long anticipated 17th studio album Senjeutsu, their last one being issued way back in 2015. In the meantime we have been kept entertained with the double live album Nights Of The Dead, Legacy Of The Beast performed in Mexico city.
Senjutsu features ten tracks over two CD's and comes complete with a lyrics book in the standard edition. The Guardian gave this a rave review:
Senjutsu is as ambitious and heavy as its predecessor (The Book Of Souls), but tempered by a more windswept, melancholic vibe, alongside some of their most fiendishly complex melodies to date....This is stunning escape-velocity songwriting that proves – yet again – that Maiden’s true golden age is their current one.
It's not often I find myself in agreement with The left-wing Guardian but I do have to agree that this band is operating at peak performance and has been for while.
