Musical Influences: Glam Rock

It wasn't all Prog Rock, Psychedelia and Heavy Metal back in the seventies. Some of the stuff we all listened to was from a much less serious and more party orientated genre, that of Glam Rock!

These were the songs we played at parties, school discos and weddings. There were lots of bands back then that dressed up like Slade, T Rex, Sweet, Mott The Hoople (after Bowie's intervention), Wizard and more. There was also David Bowie during his Ziggy and Aladdin Sane period.

We also partied to disco and a sort of revival of "Rock n'Roll with bands like Mud & Showaddywaddy or artists like Shaking Stevens or Alvin Stardust. There was such a variety of music back then.

Here's a few tracks from back then all of which will be familiar to older readers

Slade - Get Down And get With It (1971)

Sweet: Blockbuster (1973)

T. Rex: 20th Century Boy (1973)

Wizard:  See My Baby Jive (1973)
