Unite Members: Can you help get Gerard Coyne elected?

Unite Members: Can you help get Gerard Coyne elected?

As a proud trade unionist, I believe in the value of standing together, fighting discrimination and unfairness in the workplace. I have been a member of Unite the union for many years.

There is a General Secretary election currently taking place. and if you are a member, I want to encourage you to use your vote for Gerard Coyne. Your ballot paper will be delivered to your home in the next couple of weeks.

I’m backing Gerard Coyne because of his clear commitment to focus on members and providing the day to day support they need to defend their jobs pay and conditions.

Gerard’s campaign is backed by grassroots members, he is the only candidate not currently a senior full-time officer of the union and the only one not backed by a political faction. He is standing against two hard left candidates backed by the Communist party, the Socialist Workers Party and internal factions of Unite.

Gerard has stood on a platform of changing Unite, focusing all his attention on members and not on politics. I agree with Gerard, Unite needs to change, needs to stop trying to run the Labour Party, and put its focus back on supporting its members.

I have known Gerard a long time. As Regional Secretary of Unite in the West Midlands he was always available to help people, talk to members and stand up for those who needed the support of their union.

I am particularly impressed by Gerard's genuine and long-standing commitment to the women members of Unite. Unlike many, he takes issues like equal pay, domestic violence and abuse in the workplace seriously. This is reflected not just in his manifesto commitments which you can see here , but in his track record of standing alongside women at work too.

You can find out more about Gerard on his website www.gerardcoyne.org.uk.

Please sign up, follow, share and like his campaign on social media to ensure as many members as possible use their vote.

Thanks

Jess
